To be honest, we hadn’t set our sights too high for the Innovation Conference 2025 (IK25) in Dresden. A small booth, a few conversations, showcasing the basic concept behind LEAFS, and seeing how people reacted to it. In the end, it turned out to be much more than that.
Throughout the day, we spoke with visitors from a wide variety of fields. Some came from agriculture, others from industry, research, the public sector, or politics. And although their backgrounds were completely different, one topic kept coming up: water is increasingly becoming a resource that we need to manage much more consciously.
This is exactly where LEAFS comes in. Combining satellite data, weather data, and plant knowledge to make better decisions sparked a surprising amount of interest. Honestly, more than we had expected.
What was particularly exciting for us was that many conversations didn’t revolve around technical details at all. Above all, people wanted to know whether the problem is actually solvable. Whether water consumption can be reduced. Whether plants can be better understood. Whether digitalization brings real benefits in this area.
Our answer to that is the same today as it was before the conference: Yes, we believe in it. After this day, even more than ever.

For us, the innovation conference was an opportunity to do more than just introduce LEAFS. Above all, it was a reality check. The conversations confirmed that there is a need. The challenges are real. Many people are looking for solutions that go beyond mere data collection.
We left with a backpack full of ideas, feedback, and new contacts. Most importantly, however, we left with the certainty that it’s worth continuing.
